Pioneer is a Japanese multinational corporation that specializes in digital entertainment products. The company was founded by Nozomu Matsumoto in 1938 in Tokyo as a radio and speaker repair shop. Its current president is Susumu Kotani.
Today Pioneer is a world leader in electronics products for the car, home, and business markets. They played a role in introducing such innovations as consumer laserdisc, car CD player, GPS car navigation, DVD-Video player, high definition plasma display, and organic electroluminescent (OEL) display.
